Headteacher Bulletin. Term 3 Week 6.Friday 7th June 2019

Posted 7/6/2019

Welcome to the first bulletin of the final half term of this academic year. I hope you enjoyed an enjoyable bank holiday/ half term break.

This week:

  • It has been a great start in school this week with lots of exciting work taking place. I have particularly enjoyed seeing some quality writing taking place in many classes and appearing on display around school.
  • On Tuesday and Wednesday, we welcomed back Myles, Tennis coach to Carlton. Thanks to Friends of Carlton for providing this opportunity for all children – they all enjoyed a Tennis coaching lesson.
  • Eid Mubarak! I enjoyed sharing my experiences of Eid al Fitr in Tuesdays assembly when we talked about the important Muslim festival of Ramadan ending and Eid starting. We shared some dates to help symbolise the breaking of the fast and discussed this significant time of year for Muslims around the world.
  • I would like to thank friends of Carlton for providing a colourful bench that has been placed outside near our school kitchen. The bench has been purchased as part of our celebration and memorial for Mrs Thompson our School Cook, who as you know passed away in November 2018.

Staffing update:

  • I was extremely delighted to make a new teaching appointment for September 2019 prior to half term. We are extremely excited to welcome Miss Marshall to the team as we continue to build for the future.
  • I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Mr Brooks will be sadly leaving Carlton at the end of term. He has a new exciting adventure to pursue and we wish him well as he moves on to a new setting. Mr Brooks has contributed lots over the past few years and will be missed by children and staff alike.
  • This week there has also been changes, as I explained before half term, with our Pine class. We give a very warm welcome to Mrs Isitt, who joined the team this week. She will be with Pine class until the end of the term. We sadly said a farewell to Mrs Woodhouse, who has worked with the class for the last half term and given so much effort and time to the children. We pass on our sincere thanks and best wishes to Mrs Woodhouse as we welcome Mrs Isitt. Here’s to a really positive and settled period for Pine class!
  • Mrs Longfield continues to be absent from school. We continue to send our best wishes to her.
  • Class and teaching organisation for next year is progressing and I will be sharing that with you in due course later this half term.

Next week and beyond:

  • NSPCC Internet Safety session for parents 2.15 – 3.15pm on Tuesday 18th June – all parents welcome – especially Year 5&6

Thanks for your continued support and interest in our school.

Kind regards

Jon Watson
