Head teacher’sBulletin Term 3 Week 7, Friday 14th June 2019

Posted 14/6/2019

Welcome to our weekly bulletin. What a wet and miserable week it has been weather wise – is it really June? Thankfully in school things have been more positive.

I have been delighted to see Mrs Whisker’s Willow class working so hard on the writing and also beginning their rehearsals for the summer production. Lower down school, I have been so proud and pleased with the attitudes and efforts of all of our fantastic year 1 pupils from Ash Class. Miss Watling and Mrs Stones must be incredibly pleased and proud of their performance in their Phonics screening check, that has taken place this week. Likewise, a number of Year 2 pupils have also shown their super confidence and knowledge in their phonics check, making Mrs Burton immensely proud too.

On Monday we enjoyed hosting a visit to school by lead practitioner, Mrs Paton, from Rosendale Research School in London. She was also joined by other staff from other regional ‘ReflectED Schools’ to meet with Mr Brooks and I, to see what work we are doing with the children in terms of Metacognition. It was a highly successful afternoon.

On Tuesday we welcomed the NSPCC team to lead two age-appropriate ‘Be safe’ assemblies. The team are back in next Tuesday to work with Year 5 and Year 6 on internet safety. Unfortunately, due to the lack of confirmed attendees, the workshop for parents on Tuesday 18th June has been cancelled.

Thank you to everyone who has completed our short Parent Survey this week re potential changes to the school day. I have been delighted with the number of people who have responded. More to follow on this proposal imminently.
