Bulletin – Term 3 Week 9

Posted 15/6/2018

Welcome to another edition of our weekly bulletin.

The highlight in school for me this week was the Venus class learning assembly on Tuesday. Mrs Whisker facilitated a super assembly, with  the Year 5 children explaining  to the whole school and family members all about  the super work they have been undertaking as part of  the ‘Archie project’ (The Archbishop of York). Year 5 wrote their own assembly and shared the information with impressive confidence and good articulation. It was fantastic to hear all about it and we look forward to next week’s community event, when year 5 will be hosting afternoon tea. Thank you to Mrs Whisker and TA team, the children themselves and for all people who were able to join the assembly and learning party.

Year 1 children have been demonstrating not only super phonics skills but fantastic ‘can do’ attitudes as they undertook their statutory Phonics Screening check. A super effort from all of the Year 1 pupils (and supporting team!). I am very proud of the children and staff team!

Elsewhere around school we have scientists from Year 5 & 6, and mathematicians from Year 1 and 2 taking part in the STAR alliance enrichments days. More to follow in the next edition of our celebration newsletter.

This week I have also really enjoyed talking to teachers, including our New Deputy Head Teacher Mrs Burton, about our curriculum planning for next September and the year ahead. We are at the time when we have our eyes firmly on what still needs to happen this year, but also we are thinking ahead too. I will be letting you know in the next few weeks which teachers will be teaching your children next year. I can already say that classes will be remaining the same.

Please support us completing and returning the ‘academic resilience’ questionnaire you received this week.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for your continued support of school.

Kind regards
