Weekly Bulletin -  Friday 12th July 2019

Welcome to our penultimate newsletter of the school year! I seem to say so very often , but where does the time go? Lots to mention this week, as with any school, there is so much happening as we approach the end of term.

I can’t start with anything else than talking about the sense of pride and enjoyment I had on Thursday when I finally saw ‘Go for Gold’ – our fantastic Year 5&6 performance.

The children seized their moments to shine and did themselves, their families and school proud! The sense of togetherness and teamwork from all involved was superb.  The Year 5 supporting cast were excellent and have shown what they are capable of. The Year 6, participating in their last ever Carlton in Snaith show, were simply first class. I thought you all were fantastic! Very well done indeed.

Thanks to everyone who came along to support this event. I am very grateful to the staff team for their efforts with this, Mrs Gay, Mrs Issit, Mrs Mackintosh and Mrs Pierce all contributed greatly. However a huge special mention and THANK YOU to Mrs Whisker for leading this whole project so successfully.  A great show!

Also a huge thank you to Mrs Mackintosh, Mrs Pierce and Mrs Whisker for their efforts and time last Friday night giving the Y6 children a sleep over in school as part of their end of year ‘rewards’ and celebrations. Super effort and an enjoyable event.

Staffing up Date.

  • We welcomed Miss Marshall to school today in her first ‘official’ day in school with her new Humber class on Move up morning. She will be back with us on Monday too for Move Up morning number 2! Great to have you on board!
  • I also have good news to share with you! Mrs Longfield returned to school today for Move up Morning and will also be back on Monday for round 2. We look forward to Mrs Longfield making a return in September after her absence from school.  Welcome back Mrs Longfield!
  • It is with sadness that I share with you that Mrs Finch, Administrator, will be leaving Carlton next Friday. She has been a valued member of the team for almost 5 years and will be missed.  We have appointed a replacement for September – more details to follow.
  • As you are already aware Mrs Brooks will be leaving us next week as will Mrs Issit.

Other info:

  • Next week you will be receiving our celebration newsletter which captures lots of the lovely experiences that have happened within school over the last term. We hope you enjoy reading it when you receive your copy!
  • You may have noticed that we have had a skip on site this week – we have been clearing and further decluttering. We have also been improving the brown ‘porta cabin’ which will become our base for Carlton Owls Wrap Around Care from September - our Breakfast and After school provision.
  • On Tuesday this week we received our Year 6/National Curriculum test results. We will be sharing the outcomes with the children themselves in school and with parents via the end of year reports.
  • All parents will be receiving their child’s report on Tuesday.

Next week:

  • Monday morning – Move up morning 2
  • Y6 trip Monday afternoon
  • Tuesday am – in school rounders competition for Y1-Y6
  • Y6 party on Thursday at 6.00pm
  • Year 6 Leavers assembly on Friday (10.00am start).

I look forward to seeing as many pupils and family members at our school Fayre on Sunday (1.00-4.00pm). Please come and join us for this lovely event. We have live music this year as well as a host of other stalls and activities. Thanks in advance for your support with this super event. The Friends of Carlton team, led by Mrs Pemberton and Mrs Pierce have spent a great deal of time and effort in organising this event – I am sure it will be a great day. See you there!

Thanks for your continued support

Best wishes

Jon Watson
