Bulletin. Term 2 Week 5, Friday 8th February 2019

Posted 8/2/2019

It is Friday already and it is time for another weekly Bulletin. The time seems to be whizzing by and suddenly we are at the end of the fifth week of term. Time flies!

This week we have had children participating in Cross County events and Indoor athletics. Mrs Longfield was proud of their attitudes, effort and behaviour. Well done all!

Next week one particular highlight will be the children of Year 6/Willow Class  taking part in a local ‘All You Need is Love ‘event at Drax club, next Friday lunch time, helping to raise the profile  of Dementia .

Date for the diary:

Mrs Burton and team will be holding a Phonics workshop on Wednesday 20th March 2019 at 9.00am at approximately 10.15/10.30. This will be aimed at parents and carers of Reception and Year 1 children and help to explain what phonics is and to practically support your child with their phonics. We may even throw in a cup of tea and a biscuit!

Safeguarding

In light of recent local events this week (see Thursday’s parent mail), please may I remind everyone to be extra vigilant around our school and wider community. Without wanting to cause unnecessary worry and anxiety I think it relevant to raise such concerns about ‘stranger danger’ and keeping safe.  Please ensure that children in Year 4 and below are not left unaccompanied at drop off and pick up times, and that older pupils (in Year 5/6) are encouraged, if not being dropped or collected by an adult, to stay in pairs or smalls groups wherever possible.

For children who play outside after school and over the weekend it is perhaps timely and useful to have conversations at home about keeping safe.

We all have a role to play in keeping the children safe and I value your support with this priority.
