Bulletin. Term 2 Week 3, Friday 25th January 2019

Posted 14/6/2019

Welcome to this week’s bulletin. It has certainly been a cool week!

Safety: Please may I take this opportunity to remind people to take extra care and consideration when parking around the local community particularly in the icy conditions! We all need to help to keep everyone safe.

Financial concerns: Within my bulletin I often try to keep you up-to-date with issues in education. It is clear to me, that with all the ongoing ‘Brexit’ issues no actual movement and progress is being made with regards to key Education issues, notably, the fair funding formula for schools as well as overall funding for Education. I attended the North York Schools Forum meeting yesterday and we discussed the very real and severe financial constraints all schools face, both within North Yorkshire and nationwide.

As always at Carlton we aim to do the very best with the resources we have. I am extremely grateful for your understanding and support of our school in this very tough economic situation. The efforts of staff, to do over and above, and efforts of others, notably the Friends of Carlton, The Governing Board and other community members is so very much appreciated.

Marvellous me! I'm delighted that we have 86% of parents signed up to the ‘Marvellous Me’ app. We hope you are enjoying using it and hearing from us about your children's work and attitudes in school; we enjoy sharing!

If you have not already signed up please approach the school office for your login details. We would like to reach 100%. The app is so easy and is suitable for phone, other device or laptop.  It sends messages directly from your class teacher about your child to you in an instant.

School club letters were sent out on Tuesday for you to sign up for. They begin and run throughout the months of February and March (excluding the half term week). We have tried to offer a range of clubs across both Key stage one and Key stage two. I thank my staff team for volunteering their services and time.

This week:

Today our 5/6 football team are taking part in a competition at the keep moat stadium in Doncaster – we hope they enjoy the experience!

Have a good weekend. Thank you for your continued interest and support.

Best wishes

Jon Watson
