Bulletin: Term 2, Week 13, Friday 5th April 2019

Posted 5/4/2019

Welcome to this week’s bulletin. I cannot believe we only have one week left before the Easter break – hasn’t time gone quickly! Having said that so many people have had illnesses these past few weeks I think the children and the staff team are all ready for the Easter break.

How lovely it has been to have more daylight hours this week? Even though it has been cold at times we have seen the sun.

This week in school:

  • We have been having ‘assessment week’ when we check on progress and attainment towards the end of each term. I’ve been impressed by attitudes and performance!
  • Mrs Brooks led the year 3&4 trip today to Herd farm – we look forward to hearing all about their adventures!
  • We also enjoyed our Open the Book assembly on Monday from our Friends at Carlton’s Methodist church.

Next week

  • Pine class are having their trip to the Hepworth Museum (on Tuesday 9th)
  • Easter celebrations take place on Friday 12th. Children will be egg making in the morning for our competition and we hold our Easter Bonnet Parade and coffee afternoon in the afternoon – see earlier parent email for further information.
  • Reminder we break up for Easter on Friday 12th April. Children return to school on Tuesday 30th April
  • Next week you will be receiving our half termly celebration newsletter, crammed full of lots of important and celebratory information.

For your information the Governing board and I have written to Ofsted this week about expressing our concerns about the timing and tone of their recent inspection. I look forward to their response.  We have also featured in the Selby and Goole times this week following up on our inspection.

Staffing

Unfortunately, Mrs Longfield is still absent from school. We continue to pass on best wishes to her. As a result, I have had to make some temporary alterations to teaching arrangements in school. After the Easter break Mrs Whisker will be teaching in Year 6, supporting children she has taught before. We will welcome Mrs Woodhouse into school as she temporarily joins the team to teach Year 4/5 Pine class in this interim period.

Thanks to Mrs Raspin (supply teacher in Year 6 Willow Class) & Mrs Barker (temporary Teaching Assistant for their support and efforts in our school over the past few weeks. We will see you both back in school in the future!

Have a super weekend. Thanks for your continued interest and support.

Kind regards
