Bulletin – 29th June 2018, Term 3 week 10

Posted 29/6/2018

Welcome to another of our weekly bulletin newsletters. What a glorious week we have had - I can’t believe last year sports day was cancelled on more than one occasion for rain, then this year was a totally different picture.

Firstly I wanted to say how pleased I was to hear all about Sports day. I was terribly disappointed (and a little grumpy) about missing the event this year. Unfortunately I had an important conference I needed to attend, as I was sharing the work we have done as a school with colleagues from North Yorkshire and further afield, under the ‘Achievement Unlocked’ project. However, I am really pleased that sports day was such a good afternoon. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported Sports day this week. A big thank you to Mrs Longfield and the whole staff team for their efforts in ensuring the event was so successful. Well done to all of the children for their sporting efforts and attitudes. More to follow in our next Celebration newsletter.

We held another super learning assembly this week. I was so impressed by Jupiter class (Mr Brook’s fabulous Year 3 and 4 pupils), who shared their knowledge and enthusiasm for the Romans with the whole school and family members. They shared their historical knowledge and Design and Technology skills, and so much more in their informative and enjoyable assembly. Well done Jupiter class team! Thank you to all of the family members who were able to attend this lovely event – the feedback was super!

Elsewhere in school, on Wednesday Venus class had a brilliant stay and read session this week in the community hub with some of the older members of our community. What a brilliant atmosphere! Mercury class are in full flow with regards to their rehearsals for the end of year production. Mrs Smith and I, along with lots of the staff team also really enjoyed meeting the parents of our new September intake of Reception children this week. The children have begun their visits to school and we are excited to be having them join us permanently soon!

Ofsted:

I was pleased to share with you earlier in the week details about our recent Ofsted visit. Please check the school website and/or Ofsted website for more information

Staffing update

I would like to share with you that Miss Stafford will be leaving Carlton in Snaith CPS at the end of this term. Miss Stafford has made a huge positive contribution to school over the past two years and will leave us with love and best wishes.  On behalf of the whole team I would like to acknowledge and thank Miss Stafford for her enthusiasm, commitment and positivity. Our recruitment for a class teacher is well underway and we will be appointing very soon. More to follow!

I’m sure many of you will already know, that Mrs Hissett is pregnant and will soon be starting her maternity leave. I will keep you updated when we have the exciting news!

Carlton Fete

This Saturday 30th June is the Carlton Village Fete. As usual a fete queen has been selected and we are delighted that Lexie will be undertaking the traditional honours this year. Please do head along on Saturday (1.00pm -4.00pm) and support this fabulous event, the baking competition awaits your entries with prizes for home made and decorated cakes! They will be judged on presentation taste and skill. There is also a small garden competition again - why not design and make you own miniature garden.

Three weeks of a busy term to go – here’s to a super end of the year!

Kind regards

Jon Watson
